Each year, you will need to complete two financial aid applications. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): The FAFSA is a free application submitted to the federal government to determine your eligibility for federal financial aid programs, including federal student loans. The FAFSA will collect information about you, your family, and your financial situation to determine the amount of financial aid that can be awarded to you. In general, you will want to file the FAFSA each year after you have filed your federal income tax return (if you are going to file one). The FAFSA can be completed electronically (fastest) or via paper. To complete the FAFSA, you will need your Social Security Number, driver’s license, income tax returns, bank statements, and any other information you may have regarding income and investments. Use the links on this page to access the FAFSA website for more details on how to apply, documents you will need, and follow-up steps. Caution: Another, similar web address takes you to the website of a business that charges a significant fee for completing the free application. Using the links on the OCOM Financial Aid webpage will ensure you are using the website for the free FAFSA application. OCOM Financial Aid Application: OCOM has a short financial aid application form for you to complete each year to ensure the financial aid office is up-to-date regarding your enrollment plans, work-study requests, and FAFSA submission. Complete the OCOM Financial Aid Application after you submit your FAFSA. |
